On Tuesday morning former Seinfeld actor Jason Alexander hit a kid riding a bike. He will not be cited for this. Police have said he was not intoxicated or speeding at the time of the accident. The boy is 14 years old, and is in stable condition. At this point, paramedics believe that the boy didn't suffer any serious injuries.
I am glad to hear that a hollywood actor was responsible enough to stop and make sure the boy had proper medical assistance. Alexander waited with the boy for paramedics to arrive at the scene. He made the right decision to stay and make sure the boy was safe. It was probably a shocking thing for Alexander to experience, and was right in staying to help the boy.

McNabb
Over this past week there have been talks about a possible McNabb and Owens reunion. They played briefly together in Philadelphia. They reached Super Bowl XXIX in which Owens had 9 receptions on a bad ankle. However eventually a split locker room ended Owens' run with the Eagles.
I think it is a bad idea for the Redskins to sign Owens. He is not a true number one receiver in the league anymore. His talent does not outweigh his ability to divide a locker room. Owens was a great player in his prime, but he is past that point in his career. Owens 100 passes in only one season in his career to this point, and he is not going to be able to produce great numbers now. The risk of bringing Owens into a rebuilding franchise is not a good decision at this point.

Michelle O'Bama
On Monday the first lady visited Haiti. She was joined by Jill Biden, the wife of the vice president. This was O'Bama's first trip abroad without Barack, since his election. White House officials decided not to announce her plans, because of security concerns in earthquake ravaged Haiti. The visit was important as the relief efforts continue, but the world's attention is mainly focused elsewhere.
I was first surprised when I heard this news. Like many others have, I basically forgot about the situation in Haiti. It is important for people to continue to help Haiti relief efforts if they can. Mrs. O'Bama and Mrs. Biden realize that it is their responsibility to be a role model and a public figure. This speaks a lot to their character. It is good that the first lady is still trying to help those in need, although many people may have been focusing their attention somewhere other than Haiti.

butler
This week Butler's men's basketball head coach Brad Stevens agreed to a contract extension through 2021. This is huge for the school, the program, and the NCAA. Butler is an up and coming program that the NCAA needs. Many people root for the underdogs, because they are tired of the same programs dominating the tournament. Butler's success could give them the exposure they need to become a big time program and build a great tradition at the school. Stevens proved this season that he is a coach that can build a national powerhouse.
Butler will benefit greatly from the team's success. This exposure appeals to many recruits that want to make an impact and play at the highest level in college. The contract extension is also crucial. Recruits don't want to go to a school where they are not certain how long coaching staff will be there. Stevens has set himself up with an opportunity to turn Butler basketball into a perennial powerhouse in men's college basketball.

Xscape
On Monday a 5 year old kid was injured on a ride at the Xscape amusement park. The child was riding the spinning tea cups ride when he was injured. He is now in critical condition at Riley Hospital. He fractured his skull on the ride. Xscape officials have not released much information to this point. However the tea cup ride has been shut down at the park.
This is a sad story and one that could have been avoided. The park's permit for the ride has not be renewed since December of 2008. There is also a worker from the park that claims to have warned the park about a defficiency on the ride. It is clear that the ride should not have been running at the time of the accident. The family will most likely file a lawsuit, and the company will have to pay for their mistake. They did not make their customers their top priority in this situation.

UConn Women
On Monday night, the University of Conneticut's women's basketball team set a women's NCAA record by winning their 71st consecutife game. They passed the previous record held by the UConn team from 2001- 2003. This win came against Notre Dame in the semi- finals of the Big East confernce tournament by the final core of 59-44. Obviously, this record is significant to people that follow and know the history of sports. This is an amazing streak, and it may continue until they pass John Wooden's UCLA men's record of 88 consecutive wins.
Although this is a tremendous accomplishment, I continue to hope that the team does not pass 88 consecutive wins. The number 88 is almost as sacred a number to college basketball as 755 was to baseball. Most people did not cheer when they saw Barry Bonds hit #756. Although the UConn team isn't accused of cheating as Bonds was, it is still a number that a lot of people don't want to see broken. This UConn team should and will go down in history as one of the most dominant in their sport's history, but I don't think they will be able to pass UCLA's 88 wins.

Chris Henry
Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Chris Henry died this morning from injuries sustained in a demestic dispute. Henry was a five year veteran who was producing well for the Bengals prior to breaking his forearm against the Ravens. He had a wife and three children, along with a bright playing future ahead of him. He was one of the greatest receivers to ever play at West Virginia, and was well on his way to being a premier player in the league.
Henry had many off the field issues, including 5 arrests and 3 total suspensions. After he was arrested in April 2008, Henry was released from the team. Shortly after, he was brought back to the team against the wishes of coach Marvin Lewis. Although he had a bad reputation around the league, he was well into the process of turning the corner and being a better role model. It will be interesting how the Bengals finish the season after this tragedy, especially after watching the Angels win their division after the loss of Nick Adenhart this season. It will not be easy to recover from this blow to the team.
