Big Ten Expansion

The Big Ten Conference has been considering an expansion for a few years now. Rumors have ranged from expanding by one team all the way to 5 teams. The rumors have also involvedd teams such as Rutgers, Notre Dame, Missouri, and even Texas, and more. The Conference wants to add a conference championship game in football and create two divisions for each sport. This along with money from the Big Ten Network would bring a lot more money for the Conference.
I think the Conference should expand depending on the teams it adds. Rutgers would not be a good addition to the Conference. The Big Ten is prestigious and Rutgers is not a team that will be contending for conference or national championships anytime soon. Nebraska and Texas would be great teams to join the Big Ten. Both are big time programs and would bring in a ton of extra income for the league. They would both be great contenders especially nationally. Notre Dame would be making a mistake if they joined the Big Ten. Their contract with NBC is too great to give up simply to be in a conference, however it could be attractive to recruits knowing that they would play in one general area of the country so their family could see the games in person.

  1. I like the idea of adding more teams to the Big Ten Conference. However, I agree with Clayton when he says it's a good thing depending on what teams are added. We need teams who will be good contenders in the league. Also adding more prestigous colleges into the Big Ten will bring alot more profit into the league and benefit the Big Ten Conference greatly.
